Airport Lighting

Airport lighting plays a key part in ensuring travel is a pleasant experience, regardless of the destination. We have a fantastic range of both antique and modern fittings to choose from, take a look at our exceptional collection of lighting today to find the perfect lighting.

Airports and transport spaces ask more of lighting than almost anywhere: vast ceilings, round-the-clock use, thousands of people passing daily, and fittings that must keep working through all of it. The fittings that survive are the ones built from solid materials in the first place.

We design and make lighting for airports, terminals and large transport spaces in our Herefordshire workshop, as we have done since 1982. Because every fitting is made to order, we can build to the scale these spaces demand: airport pendant lights and linear fittings like our Aston for concourses and gates, airport ceiling lights for circulation areas, and airport wall lights for lounges and corridors, all in matching runs.

Every fitting is made from solid brass and proper glass, wired and tested to current standards, with LED options that keep energy and maintenance sensible at scale. For projects we quote per scheme and agree schedules at the outset, so fittings land with your programme. Tell us about the space and we will be straight about what will work.

What lighting is used in airports?

Airports use layered, heavy-duty lighting: high-output ceiling and pendant fittings for concourses, linear pendants over gates and counters, wall lights in lounges, all LED for round-the-clock efficiency. Fittings must survive constant public use. Fritz Fryer makes each of these to order for terminals and transport spaces.

Can you supply lighting for large transport projects?

Yes. We design and make lighting for airports, terminals and large public spaces in our Herefordshire workshop, supplying matching runs quoted per project. Every fitting is made from solid brass and proper glass, built for round-the-clock public use, and tested to current standards, with schedules agreed at the outset.

Are your airport lights energy efficient?

Yes. All our airport fittings take LED bulbs, essential in spaces lit around the clock, cutting both energy cost and the maintenance burden of relamping at height. We can advise on LED specifications that keep light quality high across very large areas.

How do you light a large, high-ceilinged space?

High, large spaces need fittings with presence and output: generous pendants or chandeliers on long drops to bring the light down to human level, linear fittings for counters and walkways, and wall lights to warm the edges. Scale is everything; small fittings vanish. We will advise from your drawings.

Can airport lighting be customised?

Yes. Every fitting is made to order, so sizes, drops and finishes can be built to your specification and matched across a terminal or concourse. For transport projects we regularly adapt designs or make bespoke pieces, quoted per project with documentation for your contractors.

Are your fittings durable enough for public spaces?

Yes, that is the point of how we make them. Solid hand-spun brass, heavyweight steel and proper glass cope with the knocks and constant use of public spaces where thin plated fittings fail. Every fitting is wired and tested to current standards before dispatch.

How much does airport lighting cost?

Transport and airport projects are quoted per scheme, with volume pricing for matching runs. What the investment buys is handmade fittings built to survive decades of public use, LED efficiency for round-the-clock operation, and a workshop that supports its fittings for the long term.

How long does an airport lighting order take?

Made-to-order project runs take longer than single fittings, and we agree the schedule at the outset so fittings land with your build or refit programme. Tell us your programme dates and we will confirm honestly what we can meet before you commit.
