Handmade in Britain, the collection includes table, wall and floor lights designed for everyday rituals, reading, working, or simply adding presence to a room. Available in Aged Brass and Oil Rubbed Bronze, each finish is left unlacquered to develop a natural patina over time.
Engineered for longevity and designed to be repaired, refined and lived with, the Lugg is made not just for now, but for decades to come.
The Lugg collection, named for the river that runs past our corner of Herefordshire, is the quiet workhorse of our range: a brass wall light, an ambient wall light, a table lamp and a floor lamp, in forms simple enough to sit anywhere and well-made enough to be noticed everywhere.
The collection is designed and handmade in our Herefordshire workshop, as we have done since 1982, in solid hand-spun brass: the Lugg wall light and ambient wall light, the Lugg table lamp and Lugg floor lamp. Four pieces that between them can carry a whole room’s layered lighting, wall, table and floor, in one matched finish.
That layering is the point: wall light for warmth, a table lamp where you sit, a floor lamp in the corner, all dimmable, all made to order in the same brass. Tell us about your room and we will help you choose honestly, including when two of the four are all you need.
The Lugg collection is a Fritz Fryer family of four quietly confident pieces, a brass wall light, an ambient wall light, a table lamp and a floor lamp, handmade to order in solid hand-spun brass in our Herefordshire workshop, designed to carry a room’s layered lighting in one finish.
An ambient wall light washes the wall with soft, indirect light rather than throwing a beam, adding warmth and depth without glare. The Lugg ambient wall light does this in solid brass, and it is the layer that makes sitting rooms and bedrooms feel finished in the evening.
Yes, that is what the family is for: wall light for warmth, table lamp at sitting height, floor lamp in the corner, all made to order in the same solid brass finish. Three or four sources at different heights always beat one ceiling light, and the Lugg family is an easy way to get there.
The table and floor lamps both work well for reading placed beside your chair, with the shade’s bottom edge around shoulder height when seated. For dedicated reading, pair them with a warm, bright-enough LED, around 400 to 800 lumens, dimmable for evenings. We can recommend the exact bulb.
Yes. All Lugg fittings take LED bulbs and dim normally with dimmable LEDs on a compatible dimmer, so the whole family can drop together from bright to evening warmth. We can recommend bulb and dimmer pairings for each piece.
Yes. Every Lugg piece is made to order in our Herefordshire workshop, so the brass finish can be matched to your other fittings and hardware. Many customers use the family as the base layer and add a statement pendant or chandelier from our other collections on top.
Yes. Every piece in the Lugg collection is designed and handmade in our workshop in Herefordshire, as we have done since 1982, in solid hand-spun brass, and wired and tested to current standards before dispatch.
Made-to-order Lugg pieces are priced comparably with premium retail brands. What you are buying is solid brass rather than plating, handmaking in Herefordshire, finishes matched across the family, and lamps and wall lights built to last decades rather than seasons.
