Design Centre, Chelsea Harbour Lighting Display

This isn’t simply a collection of beautiful lighting. It represents where Fritz Fryer began in 1982 and where we are today – restoring remarkable pieces from the past, creating lighting for contemporary interiors and working alongside skilled makers to keep traditional craftsmanship alive.

44 Years of Creating Legacy Through Lighting

From a 19th-century crystal chandelier, to the unmistakable form of our Alton Cluster and the hand-formed copper of the Gorsley, every piece within our Chelsea Harbour display has a story to tell.

We believe great lighting shouldn’t simply follow trends. It should be thoughtfully designed, beautifully made and capable of becoming part of the story of a space for generations.

THREE STORIES. ONE DISPLAY.

Circa 19th-Century Crystal Chandelier

Once the focal point of a grand interior, this 19th-century crystal chandelier has been meticulously restored by our workshop while carefully respecting its originality, character and history.

The chandelier has been cleaned, repaired and rewired so that a piece created generations ago can once again be safely illuminated to today’s standards.

It is exactly what we love about restoration: preserving the craftsmanship of the past while preparing it for the next chapter of its life.

Designed Around the Space

The Alton Cluster Chandelier

The Alton was created for interiors where lighting needs presence.

Volume, depth and height are where this design really comes into its own. Rather than asking your architecture to work around the light, each cluster can be designed around the proportions and character of the space itself.

From stairwells and double-height ceilings to hospitality spaces and large residential projects, scale, suspension, finish and composition can all be considered as part of the design.

The result is a feature that feels as though it belongs to the architecture rather than simply hanging within it.

Made by Hand. Made to Be Different.

The Copper Gorsley Cluster

The Gorsley brings together lighting design, natural materials and traditional metalworking.

Each sculptural copper shade is individually hand-formed for Fritz Fryer by a local artisan maker. The marks, texture and subtle variations created during that process mean that no two are completely identical.

We don’t see those differences as imperfections. They’re what give the Gorsley its character.

The result sits somewhere between lighting and sculpture – a functional piece of art that celebrates the material, the maker and the process used to create it.

WHAT'S AVAILABLE AT OUR LONDON DISPLAY?

Pease find below some commonly asked questions around our Chelsea Harbour presence…

While our heart and working design studio are based in Ross-on-Wye where we welcome clients for in-person consultations – we understand that isn’t always convenient. Where a project requires it, bespoke London design meetings can be arranged by special request, subject to team review and availability.

While our own team won’t be stationed on-site at the Design Centre, the resident staff are ready to assist with any questions. Alternatively, feel free to give us a call directly or book a 15-minute virtual call to chat with our specialists.

YOUR LIGHTING PARTNER

Lighting can completely change the way an interior feels – and the most interesting spaces don’t always come with straightforward lighting solutions.

That’s where our team comes in.

Combining traditional making and restoration techniques with modern 3D design and more than 100 years of combined lighting knowledge, we work alongside homeowners, interior designers and architects to find the right solution for the space.

That might mean carefully restoring a period chandelier and bringing it safely up to modern standards.

It could mean adapting one of our existing designs to suit a particular ceiling height, finish or architectural detail.

Or it might mean helping solve the spaces that are notoriously difficult to illuminate – stairwells, roof lanterns, skylights, voids and dramatic double-height interiors.

Whatever the brief, you’ll have a lighting partner working alongside you from the first conversation through to the finished piece.

CREATING LEGACY THROUGH LIGHTING

We started restoring antique lighting in 1982.

More than four decades later, the tools and technology available to us may have changed, but the principle behind what we do hasn’t.

Respect good materials. Work with skilled people. Make things properly. And create lighting worth living with for a very long time.

Whether we’re giving another century of life to an antique chandelier or creating a completely new feature fitting for a contemporary interior, our aim remains the same:

To create lighting with a story worth continuing.

HAVE A SPACE THAT NEEDS SOMETHING SPECIAL?

You don’t need to know exactly what the answer is before speaking to us.

Show us the space. Tell us what you’re trying to achieve. Our lighting team can help you understand what’s possible and recommend the best way forward.
