Explore our stunning feature lights, designed to command attention and transform any space. Crafted with precision and creativity by our expert team, each piece is a striking focal point, blending artistry with exceptional craftsmanship
Some rooms need more than light. They need a centrepiece: the fitting that anchors the space, starts conversations, and turns a hallway, stairwell or dining room into somewhere people remember. That is what feature lighting is for.
Our feature lights range from our own made-to-order statement pieces, designed and handmade in our Herefordshire workshop since 1982, to genuinely one-off antique and vintage finds restored by our team, like nineteenth-century crystal chandeliers and original F&C Osler plafonniers. When an antique sells, it is gone, which is part of the point: nobody else will have yours.
Choosing a feature light is mostly about scale and honesty about the room. A chandelier that is too small disappears; one sized properly transforms the space. We would always rather talk you through that before you buy, and because we make our own pieces we can adjust drop lengths, finishes and sizes to fit. Explore feature chandeliers, feature pendant lights and feature wall lights, or tell us about the room and we will suggest where to start.
A feature light is chosen to be the focal point of a room, not just to light it. Scale, craftsmanship and presence set it apart: a chandelier over a stairwell, an oversized pendant above a dining table, or a restored antique nobody else owns. Fritz Fryer’s feature lights are either handmade to order in Herefordshire or one-off restored antiques.
Bigger than most people first think. As a guide, add the room’s length and width in feet and that number in inches is a sensible chandelier diameter. Over a dining table, aim for around half to two-thirds of the table’s width. For stairwells and double-height spaces, go large and use a long drop. Send us your dimensions and we will advise honestly.
Yes. Our antique and vintage feature lights are individual pieces restored by our workshop, and once sold they are gone. If you see something you love, it is worth enquiring quickly. If you have missed a piece, we can often make a new light in a similar spirit through our bespoke service.
Yes. Because our made-to-order pieces are built in our own workshop, we can adjust the drop to suit anything from a standard 2.4-metre ceiling to a double-height stairwell. For low ceilings we will tell you honestly when a flush or semi-flush fitting would serve you better than a chandelier.
Yes. Our workshop restores and rewires antique chandeliers and lanterns whether or not they came from us, bringing them up to current electrical standards while preserving their character. We can also make new pieces to match antiques you already own.
They are once properly restored. Every antique we sell is rewired and tested to current standards in our workshop before it leaves, so you get the character of the original with the safety of a new fitting. If you are buying an unrestored antique elsewhere, budget for professional rewiring.
It depends on the period and the room. Georgian and Edwardian rooms suit lanterns and classic crystal; Victorian spaces carry richer, heavier fittings; and a clean contemporary piece can look superb as deliberate contrast in any period setting. We are happy to advise from photos of your room.
Our made-to-order statement pieces start at prices comparable with premium retail brands, while restored antiques vary widely with rarity and size, from hundreds to many thousands of pounds. What you are buying is craftsmanship and individuality: no mass-produced fitting will look like these in your room.
