Restaurant Lighting

Our restaurant lighting solutions help you to create the best ambient dining spaces, customised to suit your restaurant’s unique style.

In a restaurant, lighting is not decoration. It decides whether the room feels intimate or flat, whether the food looks as good as it tastes, and whether guests linger for another bottle or eat and leave. Get it right and it quietly earns its keep every service.

We design and make restaurant lighting in our Herefordshire workshop, as we have since 1982, working with restaurateurs, pub groups and interior designers on dining rooms of every size. Because each fitting is made to order, we can match your brand, produce consistent runs across tables, and adjust designs for awkward ceilings and listed interiors. We also restore period fittings where a building’s character is part of the draw.

The range covers restaurant pendant lights for over-table pools of light, restaurant wall lights for warmth at the perimeter, restaurant ceiling lights and restaurant table lamps for the finishing layer. Tell us about your room, your covers and your atmosphere, and we will be straight with you about what will work and what it will cost.

What lighting is best for a restaurant dining room?

Restaurant dining rooms need layered, low-level light: pendants over tables for intimate pools of light, wall lights around the perimeter for warmth, and dimmable circuits so the room can shift from lunch to evening service. Harsh overhead light flattens food and faces. Fritz Fryer makes each of these to order for hospitality use.

Why does restaurant lighting matter for food presentation?

Light changes how food looks. Warm light at around 2700K flatters both dishes and diners, while cool or flat light makes plates look dull and rooms feel canteen-like. Pool lighting over each table draws the eye to the food, which is exactly where you want it.

Can restaurant lighting be matched to our brand and interior?

Yes. Because every fitting is made to order in our Herefordshire workshop, we can produce lighting in your finishes, match existing fittings, or design pieces around your brand. For multi-site operators we make consistent runs so every site carries the same look.

Are your restaurant lights durable enough for commercial use?

Yes. Our fittings are built from solid materials, hand-spun brass and proper glass, not lightweight decorative parts, and they are made to cope with daily commercial use. Everything is wired and tested to current standards in our workshop before dispatch.

Can restaurant lights be dimmed between lunch and evening service?

Yes. Our fittings work with dimmable LED bulbs and standard dimming systems, so the same room can run bright and fresh at lunch and low and intimate at dinner. We can advise on bulb and dimmer pairings for each fitting in your scheme.

Do you restore period lighting in listed restaurant buildings?

Yes. Restoration is a core part of our work. We restore and rewire original chandeliers, lanterns and wall lights in listed and period buildings to current electrical standards, and can make new fittings to match where originals are missing.

What are the lead times and costs for restaurant lighting?

Single fittings typically take a few weeks; project runs are scheduled with you at the outset so they arrive with your fit-out. Costs range from premium-retail prices for single pendants to scheme pricing for volume, and we will quote precisely, with options, once we know the brief.

Can you advise on a lighting plan for our restaurant?

Yes. Tell us the size of the room, the number of covers, ceiling heights and the atmosphere you are after, and we will suggest a practical scheme: what to put over tables, what to run around the walls, and where you can save money without losing the effect.
