FAQs

Pease find below some commonly asked questions around our lighting restoration services…

All antique restorations need to be dropped off or sent to our Herefordshire studio, as this is where our specialist workshop is based. Every restoration is carried out by hand here by our expert team, using the tools, parts and setup we need to do the job properly.

If you’re not local, don’t worry, many of our customers send lights by courier. We’re happy to advise on safe packing and delivery to make the process as smooth as possible.

Yes! We offer expert on-site assessments to help you decide if a restoration makes sense. Clare and our skilled restoration team hold all necessary safety certifications (CSCS, PASMA, IPAF), so we can evaluate your item in any setting, whether it’s hanging from a high ceiling, installed in a heritage property, or freestanding in a hallway. If you need initial advice on installation, maintenance, or a full evaluation before committing to restoration, just let us know when you book. We’ll coordinate a convenient time to visit.

Restoration can be a worthwhile investment, but the cost depends on several factors:

  • Time required for disassembly, cleaning, and any rewiring.

  • Complexity of the design (intricate metalwork or bespoke finishes take longer).

  • Materials needed for repairs, replacements, or custom finishes.

  • Size of the piece and its current condition (age, corrosion, missing parts).
We’re happy to advise whether your item is economically viable for restoration. If you proceed, we require a 25% deposit to secure your spot in our restoration queue and help spread the project cost. Every estimate is itemized, and you’ll see exactly what you’re paying for before any work begins.

Our payment terms do vary depending on the project:

  • On-Site Assessments: If we need to visit your site to assess the project, there will be an hourly charge for our restorers’ time.
  • Workshop Restorations: If you’re bringing the product to us, we require a deposit of 25% or more to secure its place in the restoration queue.
  • Final Payment: The full balance will need to be settled before the product is released back to you.
