Sometimes the right light does not exist yet. The stairwell needs a chandelier at exactly this drop, the bar wants pendants in exactly that finish, the drawing room has proportions nothing off the shelf respects. That is what our workshop is for.
Custom lighting at Fritz Fryer is not a sideline; it is most of what we do. Every fitting in our range is made to order in our Herefordshire workshop, as it has been since 1982, so adjusting size, finish, drop and detail is ordinary work for us, from custom pendant lights to custom wall lighting like our swing-arm wall lights. And when a standard design adapted is not enough, we design and make one-off pieces from scratch: chandeliers for stairwells, runs of fittings for hotels, replications of period originals.
The process is simple. Send us the room, the dimensions, photographs if you have them, and what you are trying to achieve. We will tell you honestly what is possible, what it will cost, and how long it will take, and if an existing fitting will do the job, we will say that instead.

A customised version of an existing design usually costs little more than the standard fitting; a fully bespoke piece is quoted by complexity and size. We always quote before we make, and we will tell you honestly if an existing fitting will do the job for less. There is no obligation in asking.
Customised versions of existing designs typically take a few weeks, made to order. Fully bespoke pieces take longer, depending on complexity, and we agree the schedule with you at the outset. Tell us your deadline and we will confirm honestly whether we can meet it before you commit.
Yes. Replicating period fittings is work we have done since 1982, matching a lost chandelier arm by arm, or reproducing an original for a second room. Send us photographs and dimensions of the piece and we will assess what replication involves and quote before any work begins.
Send us the room, dimensions, photographs and what you are trying to achieve. We come back with an honest recommendation, a sketch or reference design where needed, a firm quote and a lead time. Once you are happy, your fitting is made by hand in our Herefordshire workshop and tested before dispatch.
Yes. We regularly make custom runs for hotels, restaurants, bars and offices, from a dozen matching pendants to one-off centrepieces, quoted per project with schedules agreed at the outset. Our fittings are made from solid materials and tested to current standards, built for daily commercial use.
Almost every fitting in our range can be adjusted in finish, size and drop, because each is made to order rather than stocked. Some adjustments are trivial, some change the price, and we will always tell you which before you commit. Fully bespoke design is available where adaptation is not enough.
Every custom fitting is wired and tested in our workshop before dispatch, exactly as our standard pieces are. For commercial projects we can provide the documentation your electrician or building control needs, so tell us at the outset what your project requires.
